The Power of Thinking: Left Brain and Right Brain

Some children paint beautifully while some have their numbers on their finger tips. Human brain is divided into left and right. It all depends on which part of the brain of your child is more dominant. Children sometimes find it difficult to write an essay while others can write pages – this is because of the power of our brain side.

Children who are dominated by their right brain are imaginative and intuitive. They love shapes and different patterns. Thus they love activities where creativity is involved – like painting, dancing, writing, singing etc. Generally, people who are dominated by their right brain are sensitive and emotional. The right brain in a human is the one that absorbs all the thoughts in chunks while it is the left brain that divides and compartmentalizes it. Children who are dominated by their right brain often have difficulty in spellings and numbers.

Left Brain predominantly deals with logical information. Children with dominant left brain tend to do well with math and logic. They are practical and methodical. Most of the academics taught in school encourage the use of left brain since it assures conformity in thoughts. However, if you think your child has a dominant right brain, encourage his or her creativity and thought- processes. It is important to know that left brain thinkers are not superior to right brain thinkers and vice-versa. It is just a different approach that the brain takes to reach a destination!
